Founded in 1989 by Suherwan Abu, TAKSU is one of Southeast Asia’s leading contemporary art dealers and specialists representing a top selection of art with a strong urban edge. From established names in the industry to younger up-and-coming talents, TAKSU’s artists are well sought after professionals whose cutting-edge works are known for setting the trends in the field of contemporary art.
Since our incorporation, TAKSU has been a key industry player in Asia, helping private collectors and companies to select exceptional works of art for their collections and interiors. Amongst our clientele are some of Southeast Asia’s top architectural firms, design agencies, private collectors and corporations. TAKSU has also been actively participating in art fairs since the last decade, and was among the very few Singapore-based galleries selected to participate in the recent Art Stage Singapore 2011 in Marina Bay Sands.
Apart from exhibitions, TAKSU works to forge a platform for both emerging and established artists to share their pool of creativity and knowledge. Located minutes from central Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; the TAKSU Artist Residency Programme (TARP) is a working retreat for local and international visual artists. TARP was established in 2004, with the vision of providing artists the space and means to fully immerse themselves in their craft over a 45 – 60 days residency.
TAKSU galleries are located in Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Bali (Indonesia); and is affiliated with General Hardware Contemporary in Toronto (Canada).
